Books Will Cater to Both Companies’ Core Readership of Dedicated Enthusiasts
Guilford, CT, and Boulder, CO (May 18, 2016) — Independent book publisher Globe Pequot (globepequot.com) and enthusiast media company Active Interest Media are pleased to announce a new multi-year publishing partnership uniting Globe Pequot’s expertise in creating authoritative and beautifully packaged books with AIM’s impressive connection to an audience of dedicated enthusiast readers. The terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
This spring, Globe Pequot’s FalconGuides imprint, the leading publisher of outdoor recreation books, joined with National Magazine Award-winning Backpacker to produce their first title under the new partnership: Backpacker: The National Parks Coast to Coast, 100 Best Hikes (April, 2016), a beautiful celebration of our national parks featuring detailed hike profiles, maps, and full-bleed, full-color photos.
Building on that success, the Globe/AIM partnership will publish an innovative list of books for the enthusiast market. Some will be authored by AIM writers and editors, others by authors in Globe’s own stable of talent. The books will benefit from Globe’s leadership position in the outdoor, retail and specialty markets, supported by AIM’s multi-channel marketing platforms.
“From Backpacker to Yoga Journal to Vegetarian Times to Old House Journal, AIM publications speak to readers who have authentic passion for their chosen pursuits,” said Jim Childs, publisher of Globe Pequot. “They represent the ideal market for the books we produce as a category, enthusiast publisher.”
“We know Globe as a partner whose products match the quality of our own – both in subject expertise and visual appeal,” said Andrew Clurman, President and CEO of Active Interest Media. “We couldn’t be prouder of the Backpacker book out this spring, and we look forward to producing many more exceptional titles with Globe.”
